CareerSource Tampa Bay develops an online Career Exploration Tool
~ The tool allows students and other career seekers to see local career pathways ~
TAMPA, FL – CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB), in partnership with the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners, has launched a new web-based career exploration tool. The Career Pathways Portal is a user-friendly online tool for job seekers, students, parents, and advisors to explore upwardly mobile careers and their training pathways for top industries and companies in Hillsborough County.
The Career Pathways Portal can be accessed at http://www.cstbpathways.com or from the Job Seekers page on the CareerSource Tampa Bay website www.careersourcetampabay.com.
Users can view videos and local data on more than 200 occupations grouped by skillset within the following career sectors and tracks.
Business and Finance Career Sector
Healthcare and Health Science Career Sector
Information Technology Career Sector
Skilled Trades Career Sector
Users can also get a printout of their personalized Career Advancement Plan after using the tool for easy reference. CSTB is also working on adding more sectors in the future based on industry needs in the Tampa Bay region.
“The Career Pathways Portal allows users to identify careers and pathways that fit their specific goals, abilities, and circumstances,” said Dr. Byron Clayton, CSTB Chief of Sector Partnerships. “Too many people have selected the right career but the wrong pathway, resulting in unfinished training, unnecessary debt, and underemployment. The portal can help people choose the right pathway, significantly increasing their chances to succeed.”
The Career Pathways Portal provides information about local careers, such as entry-to-expert-level salaries, job demand, diversity make-up, top posting companies and industries in Hillsborough County, and more. Users can even generate a personal Career Advancement Plan that lists their career and training selections of interest with contact information for follow-up.
“I am excited about this new tool that is easy to use and contains updated information on Pathways for in-demand careers in Hillsborough County,” said CSTB CEO & President John Flanagan. “I would like to see all students in the County be aware of this tool so they can start looking at careers that pay well right here where they live.”
For more information about the Career Pathways Portal, contact Dr. Byron Clayton, Senior CSTB’s Vice President and Chief of Sector Partnerships, at [email protected].
