CareerSource Tampa Bay to participate in Backpack to Briefcase program with National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc.

~ Workshop Connects Young Adults with Career Opportunities ~

TAMPA, FL – CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) is sponsoring the “Backpack to Briefcase” economic empowerment collegiate initiative program with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc. Tampa Bay Area Chapter.

Teens and Young adults experience higher unemployment rates than the general population and often lack the skills necessary to succeed in the labor force. This initiative will assist selected young women from Tampa Bay’s surrounding colleges with a new professional suit, headshots, and professional development workshops such as resume writing, interview skills, and financial budgeting.

Participants have been preselected to participate in the event, which will take place on Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Suncoast Credit Union located at 6536 E. Hillsborough Ave. Tampa, FL 33610. During the event, CareerSource Tampa Bay will provide the opportunity for young adults to learn more about:

  • Creating a Strong Resume
  • Hot Jobs
  • Tampa Bay Summer Hires Internship opportunities

“This is an important way for us to give back to the community and assist young women with the tools they need as they enter the workforce,” said Jemelle Wilds, Business Development Manager with CareerSource Tampa Bay. “I will be joined by Jesse Gonzalez, and together we will facilitate an employability skills workshop to assist young adults transitioning from training to ready-to-work status. We are thrilled to be a part of this initiative.”
