~The Chief Financial Officer to become sole interim CEO of CSTB~
TAMPA, FL—CareerSource Tampa Bay’s (CSTB) Board of Directors held its final meeting on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at which they voted to appoint a sole interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Effective immediately, the CSTB’s Chief Financial Officer, Sheila Doyle, will now be the agency’s interim CEO.
Doyle and CSTB’s Chief Operating Officer, Michelle Zieziula, held co-interim CEO titles since December 2023, when former CEO John Flanagan departed to take a Commissioner of Labor and Employment Services position with the City of Atlanta.
Ben Hom first brought up the idea of having a single interim CEO during today’s final meeting of the CareerSource Tampa Bay Board of Directors. “I don’t think having two co-interim CEOs is the best thing moving forward,” said CSTB’s Vice Chair, Ben Hom.
CSTB Board Chair, Sean Butler agreed with Hom saying, “I appointed both co-interim CEO’s, Michelle Zieziula and Sheila Doyle thinking we would have a new CEO in place by the end of June (2024). There probably should be one interim CEO going forward.”
“I want to say publicly that Sheila and I have been doing this for six months,” said former co-interim CEO and CSTB’s Chief Operating Officer Michelle Zieziula. “We agreed, regardless of who was brought forward, we will support each other; as such I offer my full support.”
Doyle previously worked in Pinellas County and CareerSource Pinellas as their Finance Director. She’s also been in workforce for ten and a half years and has been CareerSource Tampa Bay’s Chief Financial Officer since September 2018.
“I am excited to step into this new interim CEO role for CareerSource Tampa Bay,” said Doyle. “My goal, as the permanent CEO search moves forward, is to provide leadership to this organization and help as we transition to our new combined Hillsborough Pinellas workforce board.”
The CSTB Board of Directors voted unanimously to elevate Doyle to interim CEO for the Hillsborough County Workforce Board. CareerSource Tampa Bay and CareerSource Pinellas are expected to merge by July 1, 2024. A permanent CEO for that newly formed entity has not been selected.
