(Tampa, FL – June 5, 2024) – At their first board meeting on May 30, CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas voted to appoint Sheila Doyle and Steven Meier to serve as joint interim CEOs. Doyle and Meier will remain in the role jointly until a candidate is selected to lead CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas permanently. CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas is embarking on a national CEO search.

The Hillsborough/Pinellas Workforce Development Consortium, made up of Hillsborough County Commissioners Gwen Myers (chair) and Joshua Wostal and Pinellas County Commissioners Rene Flowers (vice chair) and Chris Latvala, approved the appointments at their June 4 meeting.

Doyle and Meier both come to the CEO role from the CareerSource entities merging to form CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas.

Sheila Doyle joined CareerSource Pinellas, in September 2013 as finance director. She became Chief Financial Officer for CareerSource Tampa Bay in September 2018.  She served as co-interim CEO from December 2023 to May 2024 when she was named sole interim CEO of CareerSource Tampa Bay. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA, both from the University of South Florida.

Steven Meier joined CareerSource Pinellas in October 2018 as chief financial officer and has led the organization as chief executive officer since February 2022. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business from Rider University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He also serves on the board of the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County, Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. and St. Petersburg Area Economic Development Corporation.

“It has been a privilege serving the residents and employers of Pinellas County and it is an honor to be part of this newly combined workforce board,” said Meier. “It marks the beginning of a new chapter, one filled with promise and potential, as we unite our efforts to better serve the Tampa Bay region.”

“This merger presents a unique opportunity for us to combine our strengths and elevate our service to the communities of both Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties and I am excited to see the continued progress that we will make,” said Doyle.

“My board colleagues and I are so pleased that CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas will have the benefit of leadership from these two experienced workforce development professionals,” said Barclay Harless, a senior vice president with Valley Bank and the interim board chair for CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas. “This merger requires the best of CareerSource Tampa Bay and CareerSource Pinellas to step forward and serve collaboratively, and we are thankful Steve and Sheila are willing to serve in this capacity.”
