Celebrating Workforce Development Month

~Editorial written by Keidrian Kunkel, CSTB CEO & President ~

TAMPA, Fla.September marks Workforce Development Month, a time to reflect on the vital role workforce boards play in strengthening communities and fueling economic growth. CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) is proud to be part of this national movement, joining 20 other workforce boards in Florida and more than 550 across the country. Together, these boards oversee more than 2,300 American Job Centers, serving millions of Americans each year.

The investment in workforce development is significant—as career centers devote time, money, and resources annually to training and career services—and the results speak for themselves. Roughly 80 percent of individuals who receive assistance through CareerSource Tampa Bay WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) programs successfully secure employment. Those outcomes not only transform lives but also provide businesses with the skilled workers they need to remain competitive.

Locally, CSTB helps bridge the gap between employers and job seekers through initiatives like youth employment programs, customized training, and industry-focused job fairs. By aligning resources with the evolving needs of the economy, CSTB ensures both workers and businesses can thrive.

Workforce Development Month is more than a calendar of events—it’s a celebration of people. It honors the job seekers who take courageous steps toward new opportunities and the employers who invest in local talent. Each September, CSTB highlights this mission through community partnerships, industry panels, and hiring events designed to connect people with meaningful careers.

Workforce development is more than matching people to jobs—it’s about building stronger communities.   We encourage you to visit our website and learn more about how we can help with your employment or small business hiring goals.
