CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas in collaboration with CareerSource Polk is pleased to offer special services to our military veterans and military spouses under a new Grant award, “Get There Faster”, from CareerSource Florida. The grant specifically targets assisting local veterans and spouses , and service members transitioning from armed forces to civilian employment. Grant services offer the opportunity for training services with a local training provider and/or worksite training through an On-the-Job Training opportunity with a local employer partner.
CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas is committed to providing the tools necessary for our Transitioning Service members, Veterans and their spouses gain and sustain careers. The “Get There Faster” program is a team of fellow Veterans that are committed to helping you succeed in your employment goals. We will use accelerated training models to assist Veterans and their spouses gain high-demand positions within the Tampa Bay community. Grant application and eligibility are the first step in accessing services’
The program is expected to help as many as 250 individuals; focusing on upskill training, employment, and support programs.

Services under Get There Faster are eligibility-based. Interested transitioning military members, veterans and military spouses will must meet and document general and funding-specific eligibility criteria as a part of enrollment.
1. All eligible applicants must be a resident of Hillsborough County or Pinellas Counties,
2. Be 18 years of age or older,
3. For a veteran, have a DD214 or other allowable verification of military status which reflects status of “other than dishonorable”,
4. For a military spouse, have verification of spousal military status or retirement, and
5. Meet U.S. citizenship or permanent resident requirements.
Grant services are funded through WIOA or the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act and other eligibility criteria may apply such as dislocation from the armed forces. To learn about further WIOA and services under WIOA programs please click here.
Below is your first step in taking advantage of the “Get There Faster program” that was designed with our Nations Heroes career success in mind.
Your Get There Faster coach will follow up within 24 to 48 hours depending upon volume to help you with the next steps. During the application process, you will be paired with a Get There Faster veteran or Career Coach to assist you.

Individualized Career Services provides one-on-one career coaching services tailored to the individual’s unique employment need. Services may include:
• Assessment of skill levels and interest profiles
• Creation of an individualized career development plan
• Resume assistance
• Labor market information
• Interview coaching
• Job search assistance
On-the-Job Training (OJT) provides eligible participants occupational skills and training essential to the performance of a specific job. OJT is an “earn and learn” employment model where participants may upgrade, retool and increase employability skills. OJT addresses local employers’ workforce needs, enhances the skills of the participants and aids employers in attaining qualified, skilled workforce with the competencies that are needed.
Two unique features of OJT:
1. The participant begins training as a new employee
2. The participant receives training at the workplace, under appropriate supervision, acquiring occupational skills and knowledge in an “on-the-job” training environment
We are excited to have Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services and Pemco Conversions as our key employer partner under Aviation providing a unique career training opportunity and apprenticeship program called Troops to Technician. The program under Get There Faster provides a career pathway to high-demand position in the aviation industry obtaining FAA highly sought industry Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) certifications. Accelerated Training with a local Training Partner is supported through tuition assistance. The Get There Faster program can include assistance with instructional costs, books, materials, and uniforms/supplies. The primary focus of this funding is education and training for one of this area’s targeted occupations. Upon completion of an approved training program, CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas will help match your skills with jobs that are currently in demand.
The program is geared towards customer choice. Individuals who are interested in training services are invited to review and research the options presented on our approved training provider list. This list was developed after extensive research into our local, regional, and statewide labor and job market. In addition, our Board of Directors, which consists of local business experts, have reviewed, and approved this list. These lists are updated on an annual basis. Training vendor and program selections must fall on the lists noted below to be considered for enrollment through Get There Faster.

“Get There Faster” is also designed to ensure that all participating transitioning Service members, Veterans, and their spouses have access to a wide range of resources they need throughout their post military life. Referral programs to VA, VBA, Veteran organizations, and community providers is at the forefront of our assistance to you.
