Coffee & Careers Job Preparation Event

CareerSource Tampa Bay to Host Coffee & Careers Job Preparation Event

~ A community event to help career seekers prepare for the New Year ~

TAMPA, FL – CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) and Feeding Tampa Bay have partnered to present Coffee & Careers, a community event aimed at assisting local job seekers in preparing for the upcoming year. The event is scheduled for Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at CSTB’s Tampa Center, 9215 N. Florida Avenue, Suite 101, Tampa, FL 33612.

Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee provided by Feeding Tampa Bay while engaging with CSTB career coaches for free resume evaluations. This is an open house event where CSTB is inviting job seekers to come in and meet with staff and attend training while at the same time enjoying a cup of coffee.

“Working with a career coach can assist you with meeting your career goals,” said Kiani Bowman, CSTB’s Director of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult & Dislocated Worker program. “A career coach can support you in understanding those goals, provide resources to get you there, help you identify the right role based on your skills and experience, provide guidance on resume and interviewing skills, and help you build your confidence.”

Other event features include:

  • Employability Skills Training Workshops:
    • “LinkedIn: Getting Started & Beyond” at 11:00 a.m.
    • “Creating an Effective Cover Letter” at 2:00 p.m.
  • Virtual Reality Career Exploration Experience
  • Resume evaluation
  • Free professional headshots

This collaborative effort between CSTB and Feeding Tampa Bay represents the first time these two community organizations have come together to serve the Tampa community.

Paul Casebolt, CSTB’s One Stop Operator, emphasizes the timing of the event, stating, “Coming out of the holidays and into the new year, people are often looking for the next opportunity. Some people may be engaged in seasonal employment that will be coming to an end; others are seeking a change from their current workplace. In either case, the new year is the perfect time for a new beginning, and we want to help put people on the path towards success.”

Feeding Tampa Bay, a valued community partner, is generously providing the coffee for the event.

The Coffee & Careers event is open to all members of the community. Participants are encouraged to complete a profile on Employ Florida before the event at www.employflorida.com, although CSTB staff will be available to assist with registration on the event day.
