Disaster Worker Grant
IMPACTED BY HURRICANES MILTON OR HELENE?

Help is still available—but not for long.
Residents of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties affected by Hurricanes may be eligible for up to $5,000 in tuition assistance for training opportunities, along with intensive career services to help rebuild and advance their careers.
To qualify, individuals must have been unemployed for 6 out of the past 13 weeks. Classes must begin before September 30, 2026, to qualify.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Register with Employ Florida
Visit the Employ Florida website and:

- Complete the Employ Florida Background Wizard.
- Upload all required documents to your Employ Florida account.

Attend an Intake Session
Complete prescreen application and attend one of our weekly intake sessions. Sessions are available through September 23, 2026:

- Monday: Tampa Center — 10:00 AM
- Tuesday: Gulf to Bay — 10:00 AM
- Thursday: South County — 12:00 PM

Bring Required Documentation
Please bring the following documents, as applicable:

- Driver’s license or state ID.
If the address does not match, please bring an additional utility bill. - Social Security card or copy, if it has not already been uploaded to Employ Florida.
- Updated resume, if it has not already been uploaded to Employ Florida.
- Pay stubs from the last six months, if applicable—especially if you have not received SNAP benefits within the past six months and are not currently receiving SNAP.
- Copy of your highest educational credential (high school diploma, GED, or college degree).
- If you have already selected a training program and training provider, bring your Letter of Acceptance or Letter of Intent from the school, if available.
- DD-214, if you are a veteran.
- VA benefits documentation, if applicable.
- SSI or SSDI award letter, if applicable.
- Documentation of your last 10 job searches.
- Information regarding your last employer:
- Employer name
- Employer address
- Job title
- Last date worked
- Driver’s license or state ID.
