CareerSource Tampa Bay Launches New Grant Program to Combat Opioid Crisis and Strengthen Workforce

~ The program offers work-based learning opportunities and career services, providing individuals with the support they need to rebuild their lives and careers. ~

TAMPA, FL – CareerSource Tampa Bay has been awarded a Fostering Opioid Recovery Grant to help those affected by the opioid crisis and substance use disorder. This new program provides work-based learning opportunities, occupational skills training, and career services, giving individuals the support they need to rebuild their lives and get back to work.

This initiative is designed to do more than just help individuals in recovery; it also supports those who want to enter high-demand fields that are critical to prevention and treatment efforts. By investing in both groups, we can create a stronger, more resilient community.

The grant serves individuals directly affected by the opioid crisis who need help with training and finding a job in any career field, or individuals who are not directly affected but are pursuing careers that support recovery and prevention, such as:

·        Addiction treatment and recovery services

·        Mental health care

·        Pain therapy and management

·        Law enforcement and public safety

·        Medical and pharmaceutical fields

·        Emergency response

·        Supportive roles that serve individuals in treatment and recovery

Participants may be able to access a range of valuable resources, including:

·        On-The-Job Training Opportunities

·        Training and career services in high-demand occupations

·        Supportive resources to ensure long-term career success
