TAMPA, FL – CareerSource Tampa Bay received a check from the Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring for $18,320 to support the Tampa Bay Summer Hires program. In 2021, the program provided summer internships and job training to more than 760 young adults in Hillsborough County.

This grant will provide additional funding to allow ten young adults who may not qualify for the program to participate.

“It gives us tremendous pleasure to award CareerSource Tampa Bay a grant in the amount of $18,320 to support the Tampa Bay Summer Hires program.” said Angela Pottinger, Executive Director Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring. “Congratulations on receiving this award! We are proud to be a part of a program that helps so many of our future workers.”

“This grant will allow Tampa Bay Summer Hires to expand the program beyond the lower income limits set by federal programs,” said CSTB Tampa Bay Summer Hires Director Jennifer Wilson. “This grant will allow us to offer the program to more young adults and get them a summer job. We truly appreciate the grant provided by the FMC Foundation of Caring.”

The 2021 summer jobs program provided Hillsborough County youth, ages 16-24 years of age with a paid summer internship position. 400 positions were filled and were paid $12.00 per hour for a maximum of 30-hours per week. The number of participants is dependent on funding and the Tampa Bay Summer Hires program is expecting to hire 400 young adults 16 to 24 years of age in the summer of 2022.

The 2022 Tampa Bay Summer Hires program will open registration for young adults 16-24 years of age on January 10, 2022. Go to www.TampaBaySummerHires.com for updates.
