Summer Job Connection to host Employer Table Talks

Hillsborough Businesses invited to learn more about CSTB’s 2020 Summer Jobs Connection

~Employer Table Talks to help businesses learn more about the program ~

 

TAMPA, FL – CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) will be hosting a series of Summer Job Connection Employer Table Talks for Hillsborough County businesses. The table talks will give employers information on how to participate in the Summer Job Connection 2020 program which will begin accepting applications on January 6, 2020.

Table Talks will be held at the following dates, times and locations:

Friday, December 13, 2019 – Plant City 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. 307 North Michigan Ave., Plant City, FL 33563

Monday, December 16, 2019 – Tampa 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. 9215 North Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33612

Tuesday, December 17, 2019 – Ruskin Office – 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. 201 14th Avenue, SE Ruskin, FL 33570

Wednesday, December 18 2019 – Brandon Center 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. 9350 Bay Plaza Blvd., Suite 121 Tampa, FL 33619

Thursday, December 19, 2019 – Tampa Center 2 p.m. & 4 p.m. 9215 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33612

Employers are invited to learn about the success CSTB experienced during the 2019 Summer Job Connection Program. Understand the intricacies associated with administering a workforce development Summer Youth Employment Program and how employers play a vital role in building the future talent pipeline for youth ages 16 to 24.

“This program would not be able to succeed without our business engagement,” said Jennifer Wilson, Summer Job Connection Coordinator. “Our business community has been key to our success by meeting businesses’ short term workforce needs, improving our regional talent pipelines and expanding workplace learning opportunities through our paid work experience model.”

The focus of the Summer Job Connection will be on regionally targeted industries and in-demand jobs which includes:

 Manufacturing/Construction/ Building Trades

• Hospitality/Tourism

• Transportation

• Logistics

• Retail

• Financial Shared Services

• Healthcare

• Information Technology.

CSTB plans on serving up to 1,500 youth in 2020. During the summer of 2019, CSTB assisted with hiring 560 youth who participated in the program. There were 90 employers who took advantage of the program last summer.

Businesses who should attend this event are business owners, human resource staff, guidance counselors, business service providers, and anyone interested in learning more about the CSTB Summer Job Connection program resources available.
