Summer Job Connection to Host Informational Sessions

~Youth Information Session and Employer Coffee Talk to provide additional information about the program~

 

TAMPA, FL – CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) will be hosting the Summer Job Connection Information Session and Employer Coffee Talk for Hillsborough County youth and businesses. The Information Session will provide youth and their parents information regarding the program, eligibility, and program model. The Employer Coffee Talks will deliver information to employers on how to apply to be a part of the Summer Job Connection 2021 program.

CareerSource Tampa Bay is looking for up to 1,000 youth to participate in the Summer Job Connection 2021 program. Youth and Businesses looking to participate in the program can start applying for the program on Monday, January 4, 2021.

Young Adults, parents and employers are invited to learn about the success CSTB experienced during the 2019 & 2020 Summer Job Connection Program.

Attendees will also learn how employers play a vital role in building the future talent pipeline for youth ages 16 to 24. They will have an opportunity to learn about the exciting changes CSTB has made for Hillsborough County youth participating in the program in 2021.

“This program would not be able to succeed without our business engagement,” said Jennifer Wilson, CSTB’s Youth Director. “Our business community has been key to our success by improving regional talent pipelines and expanding workplace learning opportunities for youth through our paid work experience model. We’ve still been able to have a successful summer program even during COVID-19 by working virtually or in person with our wonderful business partners.”

The focus of the Summer Job Connection 2021 will be on regionally targeted industries and in-demand jobs which include:

• Manufacturing/Construction/ Building Trades

• Hospitality/Tourism

• Transportation

• Logistics

• Retail

• Financial Shared Services

• Healthcare

• Information Technology

CSTB plans on hiring up to 1,000 youth in 2021 and assisting up to 200 local businesses. During the summer of 2020, CSTB assisted with serving 496 youth who participated in the new Career Exploration module.

Those who should attend this event are business owners, human resource staff, guidance counselors, business service providers, and anyone interested in learning more about the CSTB Summer Job Connection program resources available.
