CareerSource Tampa Bay Launches Online Metrix Learning Program

Tampa, FL

In an effort to increase the skills of Hillsborough County’s workforce and provide residents with tools to train for new job opportunities, CareerSource Tampa Bay and CNY Works has launched its “Metrix Learning System” program. All Hillsborough residents can take online courses, explore career pathways and even prepare for various industry-recognized certifications online and at NO COST to participate.

Through an online portal, CareerSource Tampa Bay will be providing CNY Works, which provides free access to more than 5,000 courses from Skillsoft, a nationally recognized training provider of workplace, business, technical and IT courses.

Available topics include Microsoft Office, Effective Customer Service, Project Management, Leadership, Critical Thinking, CompTIA, and many more. To enroll online, learners can visit

“We are excited to partner with CNY Works to serve our community and enhance our career services”, said John Flanagan, CSTB Chief Executive Officer. “This program will help increase the potential of qualified candidates to help our local business expand.”

Whether they are looking for a first job, a new job, or to advance in their chosen field, residents can take advantage of this career enhancing training. Metrix Learning delivers flexible, self-paced learning that can be accessed from anywhere with a high-speed internet connection, at any time. Users will complete a self-assessment of their skills, identify any skill gaps, and automatically receive recommended courses to remediate those gaps. Jobseekers can train in essential workplace skills, study job interview talking points, and search for employment opportunities nationwide.

“Participants have the opportunity to brush up on their current skill-set and learn about career paths that are in demand in Tampa Bay,” said Christina Witt, CSTB Director of Programs.
“This is a great career exploration tool, people have the chance to get an understanding of what training for different certifications looks like and discover new career pathways.”
