Overview:
Section 445.007(15), Florida Statutes, requires each local workforce development board to create and education and industry consortium composed of representatives of educational entities and businesses in the designated workforce services delivery area and mandated in CareerSource Florida policy 2023.09.19.A.1 , Education and Industry Consortiums. The consortium shall provide independent information from stakeholders in the local area regarding local workforce needs, relevant education/training programs, and the gap between them. The information will help guide CareerSource policies, programs, and resource utilization.
The local CareerSource board chair shall appoint each member of the consortium to two-year terms. The consortium will act in an advisory capacity, independent of the CareerSource board of directors. The consortium will meet quarterly to review and discuss the local labor market, strengthening talent pipelines per industry priorities, and pursuing grants to fund collaborative solutions.
