CareerSource Tampa Bay Board Selects New CEO

Tampa, FL-

CareerSource Tampa Bay’s (CSTB) Board of Directors unanimously approved the selection of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at a Special Board of Directors meeting today. John Flanagan of Bristol, Pennsylvania was selected out of 314 people who originally applied for the job in a nationwide search. The CEO Search Committee with My Benefit Partners had reduced the pool of applicants down to the final six candidates in November for face-to-face interviews. The CEO Search Committee selected Flanagan and presented him to the CSTB Board of Directors.

“I am excited about our new CEO to run CareerSource Tampa Bay,” said Sean Butler, Chairman of CareerSource Tampa Bay Board of Directors.” “We believe Flanagan will bring vast experience and leadership to enhance our effort to find people jobs and work with our local business community in developing skills they need to help continue to make Hillsborough County a great place to operate a business.“

“This is a new day for us in Hillsborough County,” said Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandra Murman. “Flanagan is a breath of fresh air. He is an individual with a lot of experience.”

Flanagan talked about the positives Hillsborough County provides saying before the vote to approve him as CEO, “My job is to move us forward and I see CareerSource Tampa Bay as an opportunity.” Flanagan is the Executive Director of Bucks County Workforce Development Board in Greater Philadelphia. He is expected to start at CareerSource Tampa Bay on January 21, 2019 and replaces Juditte Dorcy who has been interim CEO since February, 2018. The CSTB Board of Directors also approved Dorcy to stay on as the Chief Operating Officer.
